Steve Katzenstein is a lifelong resident of Queensview. His parents were original cooperators who moved into Building 7 (the first building opened for occupancy) the day it opened in November 1950. He was born in 1952.

After graduating from Stuyvesant High School in 1970, he attended Fordham University and graduated in 1974 with a BA in History. He then attended Villanova University School of Law for one year and, after a clerkship to qualify for the bar exam, was admitted to the New York bar in July, 1982. Steve is also admitted to practice in several Federal jurisdictions including US District Court—Southern District of New York (August 1982); US District Court—Eastern District of New York (August 1982); US Court of Appeals—2nd Circuit (May, 2005); and the US Supreme Court (February, 1987).

As a litigation attorney whose primary expertise is in the areas of Civil Procedure and Appellate Procedure for both the state and federal court systems, he advises the other attorneys at the firm in these areas and reviews litigation documents as to proper form. He has also handled several court cases, and has worked for several major law firms.

Steve has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2008, serving at various times on the Lease; Ad Hoc Committee on Financial Requirements; Finance; Election; Planning; Security; 60th Anniversary Party; Orientation; and Insurance Committees.
